Practice Rooms

To reserve a practice room, you must be enrolled in performance studies or in class piano. Students who have paid for reserved practice sessions will have priority for the times they have scheduled. These students will be issued cards that indicate the rooms and practice times reserved in their name. They may be required to show those cards to claim the practice room that they have officially reserved.

Rooms are assigned on a first come, first-served basis, as follows:

PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PAY YOUR PRACTICE ROOM FEE WITH EXACT CHANGE at time of reservation.

Please Note:

The State of Arizona prohibits the use of state property for private enterprise. This means that using UA facilities for any personal business (private lessons, for example) violates State law.

This policy will be strictly enforced. Please do not risk embarrassment to yourself or your students by asking them to participate in this illegal activity.

Piano Major Practice Rooms

Students may schedule and be issued keys to the Piano Majors' rooms (with grand pianos) in the following priority order:

1. Piano majors, registered for private instruction, level 185P and above.
2. Music majors and minors, with piano as their primary instrument, registered for private instruction at 185P or above. Graduate students registered for 580P should be playing literature commensurate with 185P standing.
3. Non music majors registered for private instruction at 185P or above, upon recommendation of instructor.

Music Stands

Each student is required to provide his/her own music stand for all ensemble rehearsals. Wire stands may be purchased from the School of Music Office (Room 109) for $10.00. Please use exact change; checks should be made payable to The University of Arizona. Sorry, we cannot accept credit cards or CatCards.

Practice Rooms For Music Majors and Music Minors

For students who are music majors, music minors, or registered for performance studies, access to practice rooms is available. We will provide personal keys for practice rooms only to students registered in music courses for which a practice room is required. Students using the practice rooms on an ad hoc basis may be required to relinquish the room if another student who has registered for that room and time presents his or her reservation card to claim the space.
