Medici Scholars

The Medici Scholars program has been developed by the Dean's board of the College of Fine Arts to create a new funding support for deserving young artists and scholars in the arts.

Medici Scholars Application Form

What Are Medici Scholars?

Medici Scholars are talented young artists and scholars who have shown remarkable ability in their area of study and who, with additional financial support, can better achieve their goals.

How are Medici Scholars selected?

Undergraduate and graduate students with special opportunities or needs are recommended by their faculty mentors. The final selection is made by the scholarship office in each department.

How is the Medici Scholars program different from other scholarship programs?

The Medici Scholar program is designed so that donors will have the opportunity to interact with the Scholar. When your Scholar is selected, you will be given the student's name and address, and you can expect to hear directly from him or her. You will be invited to a luncheon to meet both your Scholar and his or her faculty mentor, and you will receive a personal invitation from your Scholar to attend a performance, presentation or exhibit in which your Scholar is participating. If you choose, you may interact with your Scholar from time to time during the year. This program is only available to members of the Medici Circle or College of Fine Arts Community Advisory Boards.

Why would I want to participate in this program?

As the sponsor of a Medici Scholar, you will have a personal impact on the educational experience of your Scholar. The special funds which you provide will allow your Scholar to enhance his or her education in a way that is most meaningful to him or her.

How will my gift be recognized?

You may, if you choose, select the department (Art, Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theatre) or Fine Arts Studies, and the area within that department (painting, flute, art history, etc.). In addition, you will be recognized as a Medici Scholar sponsor in the College of Fine Arts Annual Report.

How can I participate?

As a Medici Circle or Community Advisory Board member, you have the opportunity to sponsor a Medici Scholar by committing a gift of $500, which will be paid to your Scholar.
