All incoming students (new majors, freshmen, transfer and readmitted) may choose either the BA or the BFA in Studio Art.

The BA in Studio Art requires 48 units of art and art history coursework, 18 units of coursework in a minor, and a minimum of 50 units of coursework outside of the Art Department. The required 18 units of upper-division (300-400 level) studio coursework may be in any studio area(s). See Areas of Study.

After registering for at least 24 units in art, art history and/or art education coursework, including 15 units of Foundations courses, and if your major GPA is 3.00 or above, you may present your work for review into the BFA program. See BFA Candidacy Review for details.
