Art
ART 244 || Beginning Digital Photography
An introduction to the digital camera, digital film, digital darkroom and their application to the production of a body of contemporary photographic inquiry. A digital camera is required.
ART 261 || Digital Design Studio I
Introduction to computer aided design learning, drawing, photographic and layout software. Emphasis on typography, design principles and process.
ART 268R || Understanding Computer Animation
Understanding the art of computer animation. May be taken separately or concurrently with M AR 268S.
ART 268S || Understanding Computer Animation Studio
Studio designed to accompany M AR 268R. Exploration of, and practice in, computer animations. 8 week course.
ART 306 || Digital Animation
Production of computer animation with focus in Character Animation, Modeling/Rigging, or Visual Effects/Rendering.
ART 344 || Digital Photography
Exploration of concepts, theories, ethics, credibility and practice of electronic imaging and its role in the evolution of a body of contemporary photographic inquiry.
ART 361 || Digital Design Studio II
Introduction to the concepts of graphical design over time, including sequencing, static, and animated elements. Emphasis in exploring typography and design principles.
ART 444 / 544 || Advanced Digital Photography
Exploration of concepts, theories, ethics, credibility, and practice of electronic digital imaging and its role in the evolution of a body of contemporary photographic inquiry.
ART 461 || Motion Design
This course explores issues in sequence, nonlinear systems, and typography as they relate to motion design. Studio projects focus on the development of storyboards, animation, digital video and time-based presentation. This course is a combination of studio projects, research projects, lectures, readings, and class discussions.
ART 596B || Digital Illustration / Painting
This is an advanced level course in digital painting / illustration which will incorporate hands on painting, drawing including 3-dimensional forms in relation to digital imaging and then working back into these images with traditional media. Graduate-level requirements include two extra projects and a written paper.
Music
MUS 220A || Musical Skills & Structures II
Students learn the basic skills and structures of tonal music from 1600 to the present. Computer projects involve composing and arranging skills.
MUS 302 || Recording Studio Production
Recording studio procedures including the recording chain and pre-post and actual recording production techniques.
MUS 346 || Sound & Technology
MUS 441 / 541 || Electro-Acoustic Music
Comprehensive study of electronic music. Introduction to the electronic music studio, tape composition, acoustics, music synthesis and sound processing, with actual lab applications.
MUS 442 / 542 || Electroacoustic Studio Resources
The Spring semester of this course will explore the possibilities and techniques of advanced MIDI and digital audio subjects. We will be exploring the MIDI possibilities of MAX software and the Digital Audio Synthesis capabilities of Metasynth and other software based synthesis modules.

Basic technical and aesthetic principles of theatrical sound production.

Advanced studies in technical theatre, theatrical engineering, structures and motion-control systems for the stage.
T AR 418 / 518 || Digital Imaging for the Theatre
Intensive studio work on Macintosh-based graphics programs for theatrical designers.Graduate-level requirements include more complex designs of multiple views and lighting situations.
T AR 419 / 519 || Sound Design
Advanced study in theatrical sound, production and design.
T AR 420 / 520 || Advanced Lighting Design I
Special problems, practice and trends in designed light for theatrical productions. Graduate-level requirements include an additional creative and/or research project.
T AR 597A || Technical Production
The practical application of theoretical learning within a group setting and involving an exchange of ideas and practical methods, skills, and principles.
